While a division of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the SMFA secures its own annual operating and capital funds. Tuition and fees cover much of the cost of regular operations, but the substantial remainder--$3 million this year--comes only from endowment, special events and gifts directly to the School. Alumni and friends may join the Medici Group, establish a Medici Scholarship or contribute to the SMFA Fund.
Gifts not only provide financial aid for talented students who could not otherwise attend the School, but also support everything we do, including:
-Exhibitions and visiting artists
-Faculty salaries and professional development
-Equipment - from easels and large format printers to kilns and presses
-Heat, light and building maintenance
-Professional development resources, including the Artist Resource Center and artSource
Gifts of all sizes are important to sustain the present and plan for the future. Only with your support can the School fulfill its mission-to provide its unique and outstanding interdisciplinary and self-directed education in the fine arts for the next generation of artists.Gifts of all sizes are important to sustain the present and plan for the future.
