The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is a division of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; however, we are completely independent and responsible for our own fundraising. Tuition and fees cover much of the cost of regular operations, but a substantial remainder—$3 million this year—comes only from gifts, endowments and special events. There are many ways to support the SMFA—alumni and friends may join the Medici Group, establish a Medici Scholarship or contribute to the SMFA Fund.

Gifts not only provide financial aid for talented students who could not otherwise attend the School, but also support everything we do, including:
  • Technology upgrades
  • Exhibitions and visiting artists
  • Faculty salaries and professional development
  • Equipment, from easels and large format printers to kilns and presses
  • Heat, light and building maintenance
  • Professional development resources, including the Artist Resource Center and artSource

Gifts of all sizes are important to sustain the present and plan for the future. Only with your support can the School ensure that its some 700 students continue to forge new directions in art. We thank our 2010 donors for their support.
