Housing
Housing information for the 2010 fall semester is mailed to all accepted students the beginning of April, informing them of the proper housing application process. There are limited on campus housing spaces. E-mail Holly Gould if you have any on-campus housing questions. Pricing and applications can be found on the Housing page.
The majority of SMFA students live off-campus in the city of Boston. We offer a number of resources to help you find both roomates and a place to call home. Print out helpful guides and forms here and contact the Student Affairs office for further information.
@SMFA: e-mail + e-community
SMFA has switched its e-mail system from Outlook Web Access to the Google Apps for Education service @SMFA. @SMFA is completely compatible with both Macs and PCs, and provides a robust and innovative e-mail system with perks such as calendaring, instant messaging and document storage. This is where you will receive important information about registration deadlines, courses, events and opportunities.
If you have any questions about your account, please e-mail your Helpdesk team at helpdesk@smfa.edu.
Computer accounts, lockers and mailboxes will be assigned during orientation.
Computers
The School is equipped with Macintosh computers in the Mac Lab, to which all students have general access. Nevertheless, some students may opt to purchase a personal computer. While the SMFA does not have a formal computer recommendation, the School uses Apple platforms. The SMFA technology committee recommends the MacBook Pro 15-inch: 2.53GHz with Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display, which is available with a student discount and protection plan from http://store.apple.com/us_edu_395500.
Dining
Whether you live on-campus or off, food is available for purchase at the School's Cafe des Arts. A meal plan through Chartwells, located at Massachusetts College of Art, is also available. More information on signing up for a meal plan is available at www.dineoncampus.com/massartmcphs.
Transportation
Students may purchase semester MBTA passes through the School. Please contact the Business Office for information or download the information sheet and order form.
