
SMFA students are eligible to compete for a wide array of awards, from juried
exhibitions to prestigious awards and curatorial opportunities.
Here are just a few awards that our students regularly compete
for:
The Stella and Sumner Cooper Award is awarded to students
working in
metal, glass, and mixed media. ![src=]()
The Will and Elena Barnet
Painting Award is given to a student whose
painting embodies
the formal elements of painting and composition, and the
principles of
structural design. ![src=]() The Dana Pond
Award in
painting is given to three students who, in the
opinion of the jury, have done
the most meritorious work during the
school year. ![src=]() The Boit Awards are given to encourage students to continue
their
studio projects during the summer recess, beyond classroom

The Traveling Scholars
Awards. Fifth Year students and alumni compete
for these
awards, which include a scholarship for travel and an exhibition of

The Eugene C. Ward Memorial Scholarship was established in
memory of
the late Gene Ward, former dean of admissions, to support a
worthy student who
has shown outstanding merit and commitment to
his/her art in any media.
The Robert and Ruth Remis Scholarship is a scholarship for
artists of exceptional promise and merit awarded for
the final year of their
Diploma or BFA program.
The Karsh Prize in Photography is an annual prize awarded to three talented
