While we make every effort to run all scheduled classes and events, it is sometimes necessary to cancel classes and/or close the buildings due to severe weather.
There are several ways for you to learn
if classes have been cancelled due to snow or other inclement weather. You can:
- Call our storm line at
617-369-3900 and listen to the recorded message.
The message will also indicate if the buildings will be open and offices staffed. - Sign up to receive a text message or email by clicking here. The text message will also indicate if the buildings will be open and offices staffed.
- Check a local media outlet:
If
the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is closed, all SMFA buildings
will be closed to
students, faculty, and staff (except for
essential
personnel). For safety
reasons, there are
no
exceptions to this rule. Building
closure status will be
indicated on the storm line message and on the
text message service.
Also note: - If Day
classes are cancelled, Continuing Education classes and
evening events will also
be cancelled.
If the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), is open, all
administrative offices will be open and staffed, even if classes are
not being
held. - The decision to close will be made prior to 6:15 am for an all-day
closing, by 12 pm for an afternoon closing, and by 3:15 pm for cancellation
of evening classes and events.
